Hi, I’m Leslie MILLER
Like many of you, the global pandemic of 2020 was a game changer in many ways. I started to think about health and emotional wellbeing differently. I have worked as a classical Pilates instructor and psychotherapist for many years and I thought I understood the mindbody connection. But the pandemic changed all of that as I could understand the impact of trauma stored in the body and the direct relationship that emotional health can have on our bodies. I came to understand the importance of balance and cultivating a more restorative physical practice. Often when we meet our bodies where they are with more self-compassion we can go much further toward our goals for fitness, health and wellbeing.
In my twenties I pushed myself to do high intensity workouts, long cardio sessions and taught high impact classes. All of that changed when I hit my 40’s and my joints could no longer take punishing high intensity workouts. It was at that point that I began doing Pilates which was a turning point.
I have also learned that when we are experiencing emotional intensity or going through a life transition, balancing our physical and emotional health with restorative practices is enormously beneficial.
I am Comprehensively Certified by Peak Pilates, the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a personal trainer, and the Yoga Alliance (RYT-200). I specialize in Trauma-informed practices and hold a master’s degree in social work from Fordham University.
